What is Sentul Festival all about?
In conjunction with the finale of Dignity for Children Foundation’s (Dignity) 20th Anniversary, Sentul Festival aim to celebrate and foster a culture of lifelong learning and over 2 weekends in August 2019. Hosted by Dignity’s educational institution for urban poor children and refugees, sponsored by Paramount Corporation Berhad, the festival will take place in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur.
It is open to everyone as there will be interesting offerings of workshops and activities for children, youths, and adults. The 2nd weekend will also include a festive bazaar!
What is the theme for Sentul Festival?
‘Sentul Leads the Way, Education for All’ is the theme for Sentul Festival, championing education for everyone. Through this festival, we seek to raise awareness, build and strengthen relationships between Corporations and Organizations, SMEs, Community Groups, Advocates, Social Enterprises and the public. The 3 main categories for the workshop offerings – Education, Arts & Culture, Health & Wellness. Supported by YB Prabakaran of Batu Parliament, this Festival will also look to serve the lower income group in the Sentul community with free health check-up and financial literacy.
When and where is Sentul Festival?
Sentul Festival will take place across 2 weekends in August – 10 & 11, 17 & 18 August at Dignity for Children Foundation, Sentul Boulevard, Kuala Lumpur from 11AM to 8PM. Workshops will be going on at various times so make sure to follow our Facebook event page or visit this page for the latest schedule! There will be a bazaar and special performances on 17 August, Saturday.
Who is Sentul Festival for?
Sentul Festival is an event for all! There are workshops for the young all the way till seniors! Spread the word and invite everyone (especially kids) – this is the perfect time to explore Dignity and Sentul! Dignity’s classrooms will be open and we would love to invite you to take this opportunity to learn more about the organization’s work (One of the most comprehensive education for underprivileged children in South East Asia).
For your younger ones, there'll be a daycare classroom with Montessori materials and trained teachers to care and watch over your children while you attend the workshops! So fret not, bring your family along 🙂
How do I sign up for the workshops?
You may click on sign up and provide your details on those workshops that you are interested to join. All the necessary information are available on the Workshops tab – fee (some workshops are free!), date, time and who is conducting the workshop.
Note: Payments are to be made directly to the respective instructor as Dignity does not take any commission or payment from the instructors.
Can I sign up for more than 1 workshop or attend more than 1 talk?
YES, definitely! We highly encourage you to go for as many workshops and talks as there are many different organizations, enterprises, and individuals that will be a part of this lifelong learning festival, so don't miss out!
I'm interested to conduct a workshop/ give a talk - how can I join?
Activities can take the form of workshops, lectures, demonstrations, classes, short courses, sharing circles OR bazaar booths in the final weekend, and will be held in Sentul Boulevard at Dignity for Children’s premises.
All activities should:
- involve knowledge sharing or learning
- be entirely up to the creativity of the organizer
- be either fee-paying or free (organizing individual/company to handle fee collection independently) with a small fee paid to the Sentul Festival Organizing Team for rental of space and promotion via our website/Facebook and Instagram pages

Are there any charges if I would like to run a workshop or teach a skill?
As the organizer and host, Dignity will be providing our space for usage without a charge - yes, for free!
The only payment is a refundable deposit of RM 150. The deposit will be refunded by Dignity after the event, before 30th August 2019. In the event of a no-show or any damage to the space, Dignity reserves the right to not refund the deposit.
Space would be allocated by the Organizing team depending on the estimated number of participants and will be advised accordingly.
